Research and design work

     Reforms   in the field of science   and education, carried out under the leadership of the respected President of   Turkmenistan Serdar   Berdimuhamedov, are  one  of  the priorities of state policy. Because the future of the country and its economic development are closely related to the level of technology and innovation.

     Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas maintains cooperation with research and design institutes of the oil and gas complex, scientific institutions of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, as well as prestigious foreign universities, scientific organizations and centres.

    Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas actively participates in international cooperation. In this regard, the leading universities of Germany, Romania, Austria, Korea, Russia, Italy, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Belarus and Erasmus + of the European Union have agreed to cooperate in the scientific and educational field.

      In recent years, a special place in the research work of the university has been given to innovative technologies. That is why the university has an innovative research centre. The Centre continues to conduct refresher courses to strengthen the link between science and industry.

     Currently, according to the State Program for the Comprehensive Development of Chemical Science and Technology in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025 and the Program for the Implementation of the Program for the Digitalization of the Science System of Turkmenistan for 2020-2025, students and young people who have received a bachelor's and master's degree, students, and graduate students conduct research on fixed topics. The results of the research are published in the form of articles and abstracts in our country, in foreign scientific publications, and presented at international scientific conferences. Efforts are being made to introduce research results into production. Received patents and certificates for inventions.

     In order to ensure the coordination of scientific research with teaching, improve the quality of training of specialists, together with the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, conducts research in the following priority areas of science:

      • "Development of the scientific foundations of the technology for the production of magnesium products based on local raw materials and the rational use of industrial water resources";

      • "Development of scientific methods for the disposal of alkaline waste generated at the complex of oil refineries in the city of Turkmenbashi";

      • "Development of scientific bases for the reuse of petroleum products used in production";

      • "Modernization of existing computer software in the field of information security";

      • "Automation of research, design work and experiments, development of digital methods to draw conclusions from the data."

     Scientific activities

      Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas annually organizes scientific conferences and exhibitions on the occasion of national holidays. This is of great importance for highlighting successes, encouraging winners among students, and involving other young people in science.

    Young scientists and university students actively participate in international conferences and exhibitions and present their work at annual scientific and practical conferences and exhibitions held at the state level. Namely:

    - International conference "Science, technology and innovative technologies in the era of prosperity of a sovereign state";

    - International exhibition "White City Ashgabat";

     - XXV International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan";

     - International exhibition and conference "Health, education and sport in the era of prosperity of a sovereign state";

     - International scientific conference "Turkmen horse and the art of riding the world";

      - They express their scientific achievements by participating in the International Book Fair and scientific conference "Book - the way to cooperation and development."

     Council of Young Scientists

      At the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas, a Council of Young Scientists has been established to train senior teachers, young scientists, technologists, effectively conduct research and design work by young scientists, and attract talented young people to science.

      The Council of Young Scientists is a scientific public scientific organization, which is a voluntary and self-governing body of young scientists engaged in research, design, production, patent and other scientific and creative activities. The Council of Young Scientists includes: Student research and design working circles, Research and Design Centre, Oil and Gas Publishing House, popular science electronic journal Science and Technology of the Oil and Gas Sector.

       The Research and Design Centre conducts research work on robotics with the participation of young scientists, engineers, technologists and specialists, regularly organizes demonstration and familiarization classes for amateur schoolchildren.

      Oil and Gas publishing house prepares letters of thanks from teachers and students of our university, collections of scientific and practical conferences, booklets of these programs and provides various types of printing services for our university.

       The scientific-electronic journal of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas "Science and technique of Oil and gas industry" regularly publishes scientific articles describing the results of research conducted by the faculty and students.

          Student circles for research and design work

           One of the priorities of the state policy of the President of Turkmenistan is the active involvement of students in research and project activities in order to develop innovative technologies and develop the knowledge, skills and creativity of specialists to achieve high economic results.

          Students of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas organized scientific and design seminars with the aim of actively participating in research and design work.

          Research and project work forms the readiness of future specialists to creatively apply the knowledge and skills acquired at the university, helping them to master the basics of scientific methodology and gain experience.

Involving students in research and design allows them to use their strengths to solve important problems in various fields of science and technology.

Any university student has the opportunity to become a member of a research and design circle and choose a topic of interest and carry it out under the guidance of a teacher of the department. Teachers encourage students to participate in research and project work, develop scientific topics and projects, provide them with the necessary equipment.

         The Council of Young Scientists of the University currently includes the following student research and design teams: "Young Oil and Gas Engineers", "Young Drillers", "Constructors", "Linguists", "Young Engineer-Geophysicist", "Young Geologists", "Young Hydrogeologists", "Young Miners", "Young Mine Surveyors", "Young Engineers", "Young Industrial Builder", "Advances in Technology", "Young Mechanics", "Energy and Resource-Saving Technologies Based on Digital Electronics", "Young Ecologists ”, “Radicals”, “Young Philosophers”, “Young Chemical Technologists”, “Young Economists”, “Software Development for Automated Information Systems”, “Scientific Group of Teachers, Specialists and Students on Software Development for Cybersecurity”, “ The Art of Programming”, “Young Mathematician”, “Skilled Drillers”, “In Search of Black Gold”, “Happy Oilmen”, “Talented Youth”.

          Student scientific and design teams carry out their work in accordance with the scientific directions of the university and prepare proposals for production in the production enterprises of the oil and gas complex and other sectoral departments of the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan.

                   Engineering Academy

         The Academy of Engineering has the opportunity to develop scientifically based innovative business technology projects, "Start-up" projects, new technologies for the production of new composite materials and engineering products based on local oil and gas and other chemical raw materials, the implementation of intellectual and logical symposiums, such as holding consultations with professors - students about the possibilities of registration through a patent document of an invention, their ability to replace foreign goods, and the possibility of their introduction into production, as well as the discussion of important intellectual and logical issues, such as the exchange of best practices.

         General Directorate of Ratings

         The General Directorate of Rankings conducts competitive analysis, registration and comparative work in our university, such as "Student of the Month", "Teacher of the Month", "Department of the Month" and "Faculty of the Month". In addition, deputy deans for scientific work of all faculties and heads of all departments are actively involved in the implementation of this work.

           In order to improve the quality characteristics of the work performed, according to the Rating assessment, of the scientific and pedagogical staff of our university, the iRating software was created by the teachers of the Department of Modern Computer Technologies and the Department of Cybersecurity of the Faculty of Digital Technologies and Cybersecurity, that is, which allows automating the method of accounting for the activities of teachers and students of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas.

       This program is integrated into the internal local network of our university and implemented in full. Deputy deans for scientific work of all faculties consistently acquaint teachers and students of the respective faculties with the successes and achievements.

        Thanks to the efforts of the President, the number of modern higher education institutions is increasing in the country, the material and technical base is being strengthened, the legal framework of the national education system is being improved, new vocational training programs and curricula are emerging, curricula are being introduced taking into account the needs of a rapidly growing digital economy, and innovative methods are being introduced into curricula. The cooperation of higher educational institutions of our country with prestigious universities of the world, centres of science and education is being activated.

          In order to further improve the work carried out in this area, the President of Turkmenistan set the task to include the country's higher educational institutions in the list of international higher educational institutions by 2024. According to the plan, in September 2021 at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas, the following indicators for 2019 and 2020 are included in the Impact Ranking 2022 list (Impact Ranking

      - SDG4 (Quality education);

     - SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy);

     - SDG9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure);

     - SDG17 (Partnership for Achievement)

relevant work has been done to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

           According to the results of the work carried out on April 27, 2022 by the well-known organization Times Higher Education (World Ranking Organization) in London, United Kingdom, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas and the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan and information about it is fully published on the official website of the World University Rankings Times Higher Education (

          The world famous Times Higher Education is considered the recognized leader in the higher education rankings.

The list of universities participating in the Impact Ranking of Times Higher Education in 2022 is listed. In order to be included in the final ranking list, you must be included in 4 Sustainable Development Programs (SDGs). If a university is not registered in 4 of them, it is removed from the entire rating list and not included in the final rating, but its results are included in the list of registered Sustainable Development Programs.

         Thus, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas became one of the first universities to be included in the list of all sustainable development programs submitted by Turkmenistan and was included in the list of such prestigious and prestigious ratings.

        More than 1,400 prestigious universities in the world have been selected for the ranking.

       Two universities from Turkmenistan - the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas and the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan - entered the final ranking list.

              In January-February 2022, the European Union, under the auspices of the Erasmus + project of the European Union under the leadership of the University of Deusto, Spain, with the participation of the Russian Federation and higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan, including the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas, our university was ordered the RUTA project (Project to ensure quality and improve the competitiveness of the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan). The project is aimed at the development of digital and information technologies. This order, dated February 17, 2022, was successfully accepted. The project documents are currently being reviewed and the result is awaited.

           In addition, the International Union of Universities (IAU) participated in about 10 webinars on the digital transformation of higher education. These webinars were dedicated to the best practices and achievements of the oldest and most prestigious universities of the Union in this area.
