In the era of power and happiness of our sovereign state, thanks to the unprecedented efforts of the esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and international cooperation, the scientific and educational potential of our country is steadily strengthening. When the state and social system is founded on a scientific and educational basis, it enables the establishment of a strong foundation for the state, contributing to comprehensive, harmonious and prosperous development, as clearly demonstrated by the remarkable achievements of our state.

    In this regard, at the present stage of our country’s development, the advancement of international cooperation in the field of education based on leading global achievements, as well as the further development of the national digital education system, are driven by the implementation of information and communication technologies at all its stages in accordance with innovative approaches to education.

    Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University is working to bring its cooperation with world-renowned scientific and technological centers to a qualitatively new level. The professional education standard, curriculum and study plans of the University are being studied and implemented based on the experience of leading higher education institutions worldwide. Modern methods of student education and scientific research are being introduced at the University by professors and scientists from leading universities and research centers around the world.

    Without the development of new information technologies, further growth and the achievement of new heights in the economy and social life are impossible.

    To this end, Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University trains highly qualified specialists, bachelors and masters by actively participating in the global educational space and cooperating with international educational institutions in many countries around the world, including prestigious universities and international organizations, particularly in European countries, with the aim of expanding comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of science and education.

   - Memorandum of Understanding between the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University (Turkmenistan), Xi’an Shiyou University (People’s Republic of China), Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) (People’s Republic of China), and the China Association for International Educational Exchange (People’s Republic of China);

    - Agreement on the Establishment of a Joint Turkmenistan–China Energy Training Center between the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University (Turkmenistan), the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and China University of Petroleum-Beijing (People’s Republic of China);

    - Memorandum of Understanding between the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University (Turkmenistan) and Georgian Technical University (Georgia).

    Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University was admitted to the International Association of Universities on July 25, 2013 and was granted the International Award of the European Quality Assembly by the Socrates Committee of the European Business Assembly (Oxford, UK). This organization, founded in 1950 and which includes 650 universities, is located in the UNESCO building in Paris.

   For his significant contribution to science and education, as well as the training of highly qualified specialists, Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University received a gold medal, badge and diploma of the International Competition «Gold Medal of the SEIN Association».

       In accordance with the Action Plan for including higher education institutions of our country in the list of internationally recognized higher education institutions by 2024, comprehensive work is being carried out at the University. According to the “Impact Rankings 2022”, “Impact Rankings 2023”, “Impact Rankings 2024” and “Impact Rankings 2025” ranking, annually conducted by the international ranking organization THE (Times Higher Education), based in London, United Kingdom, the University was included in the list of the World University Rankings for two consecutive years. In addition, in October 2022, based on the results of the scientific research and educational-methodological activities carried out at the University, the University was included by THE (Times Higher Education) in the “World University Rankings 2023”, “World University Rankings 2024” and “World University Rankings 2025” as a corresponding member.

    On March 3, 2023, Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University was admitted as an associate member of the Asian Universities Association, and on September 29, 2023, it was admitted as a member of the Association of Technical Universities.

    In 2024, the University was admitted as a member of the Eurasian Universities Association and, according to the “Asia University Ranking 2024” ranking, was included in the World University Rankings as a corresponding member.

    On October 1–2, 2023, the Rector and a representative of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University participated in the international conference “Towards Carbon Neutrality: Knowledge, Technology and Intelligence”, held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. On October 2, 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University and China University of Petroleum on close cooperation in the fields of science and education.

    On December 1, 2023, a meeting was held between Mahmoud A. Hassan, Head of the Economic Cooperation Bureau of Libya in Turkmenistan, and the Rector of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation. During the meeting, a number of proposals were presented regarding opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of science and education between the University and Libyan oil and gas higher education institutions.

    On December 5, 2023, future areas of cooperation under the Memorandum of Understanding with the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University were discussed with the participation of a delegation headed by the Rector of China University of Petroleum. A working meeting was held at the International Oil and Gas University. During the business meeting, a number of proposals were put forward to develop and strengthen cooperation in the fields of science and education between the two higher education institutions.

   From 8 to 11 December 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, at the 28th Meeting of the Parties (COP28) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and at the international exhibition organized at the headquarters of Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd. 2 teachers and 2 university students took part in the wind energy stand project.

   During the exhibition, information was provided on the activities being carried out around the world to reduce methane emissions into the environment, develop renewable energy, and achieve water and food security.

     In addition, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University was included in the “UI GreenMetric World University Rankings”, an international university sustainability ranking conducted annually by the Universitas Indonesia.

    In October 2024, in Xi’an, People’s Republic of China, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, Xi’an Shiyou University, Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), and the China Association for International Educational Exchange with the aim of promoting close cooperation in the fields of science and education, as well as establishing the Lu Ban Workshop in Turkmenistan at the University.

    In order to implement the objectives set out in the “Strategy for International Cooperation of the Youth of Turkmenistan for 2023–2030”, as well as in the concepts adopted in the fields of science and education, the University has organized and held, at a high organizational level, the international scientific and practical conferences “Scientific and Technical Opportunities for Obtaining Hydrogen Energy from Natural Gas” and “Energy Prospects and New Technologies for the Development of Hydrocarbon Deposits” in 2023; the international scientific and practical conference “Prospects of Innovative Technologies in Chemistry and Gas Chemistry”, held online, as well as the II Open International Olympiad in Informatics and the international scientific and practical conference and exhibition “Scientific views of student youth in the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State” in 2024; and the III Open International Olympiad in Informatics and the international scientific and practical conference “The Future of Digital Innovative Technologies and Their Implementation in Science and Education” in 2025.

     Thousands of professors and lecturers, scientists, students of specialized higher education institutions from Turkmenistan and foreign countries, as well as representatives of companies, actively participated in the international Olympiads and scientific and practical conferences held.

    On April 16, 2026, the opening ceremony of the Lu Ban Workshop in Turkmenistan was held at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University. The ceremony was attended by a high-level delegation of the People’s Republic of China, including a delegation led by Ding Xuexiang, First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. This event once again demonstrated the consistent development of humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

    On  April 16, 2026, in Ashgabat, within the framework of the seventh meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee between Turkmenistan and China on Cooperation, an  Agreement on the Establishment of a Joint Turkmenistan–China Energy Training Center was solemnly signed between the Yagshygeldi  Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and China University of Petroleum-Beijing.

    This Agreement opens up broad opportunities not only in the field of education but also for scientific and technological development, and will serve as an important step in training highly qualified specialists for the oil and gas and energy sectors of Turkmenistan.
