Chemical technology and ecology faculty of  the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International oil and gas university was founded in 2012.

The departments of General chemistry,Chemical technology of oil and gas processing,Industrial ecology, and Social sciences function at the faculty. The faculty graduates engineers-chemists-technologists in the specialty of "Chemical technology of oil and  gas refining",engineers-ecologists-technologists in the specialty of "Environmental  protection and rational use of natural resources", engineers-technologists in the specialty of "Standardization and certification",bachelors in the direction of "Chemical  technology","Standardization   and  metrology", as well as and masters in the direction of "Technology for processing of hydrocarbon gases".After graduation, they work in the state concerns Türkmengaz,Türkmennebit of  the oil and  gas complex of Turkmenistan, the state concern Türkmenhimiýa,research institutes, as well as in the relevant management industry organizations.

At the basic departments of the faculty opened at the Institute of chemistry  and the Technology Center of  the Academy of  Sciences of Turkmenistan, students  consolidate the theoretical knowledge in production, actively participate in research and design work.

Research activities at the  faculty are carried out in priority areas of science. From the research works  provided by the action  plan to  implement  the State  Program  for the Comprehensive Development of Chemical Science and Technology in  Turkmenistan   for   2021-2025, the departments of the  faculty carry out  research  works on the topics:“Development of methods  for  the beneficial  use of alkaline  residues formed in the complex of oil refineries  in Turkmenbashi  city”,“Development  of  scientific bases for the utilization of  mineral oils  used in production”,“Development  of methods for obtaining and using magnesium products  from local  raw materials”,“Development of methods for the  environmentally rational  use of  saline  groundwater by reusing  them”,“Development of methods  for  the  integrated  utilization of industrial  waters of Turkmenistan”,“Innovative  technology  for  the extraction  of  decorative stones from local raw materials”, “Scientific foundations for the systematic use of  hydrocarbon gases”.

In 2022, the Center for Hydrogen energy was  established at the faculty in accordance with the plan of the "Roadmap for the  development  of international  cooperation in the field of hydrogen energy of Turkmenistan for 2022-2023", approved  by the President of Turkmenistan. This center studies the world experience in the production of hydrogen energy and the possibility of  its  productioninour country in the future.

According to the program of the center, seminars, meetings and  consultations with large foreign  companies   are held via  a  digital network (online). The  Center  also took part   in the development of the National  strategy project for the development  of hydrogen energy in Turkmenistan.Currently, relevant  work is implemented to establish international cooperation  with the “Sustainable Gas   Institute” of  the “Imperial  College London” on  the  scientific topic “Innovative technologies  for producing hydrogen  energy from natural   gas”.

The classrooms of  the Chemical technology and  ecology faculty are provided  with modern equipment. There are classrooms for  diploma  and term projects, language  and  computer classes, as well  as 20 laboratories designed  for educational and research activities.

At the Chemical technology  and ecology  faculty, there  are  classes  promoting the works of  the Hero  Arkadag, the domestic  and  foreign  policy of our Esteemed President, the study of  the philosophy of  Magtymguly's  creativity, as  well as scientific  classes where students  study natural  resources  and  the development  of  the chemical industry of our country using multimedia devices.

The results of  research  conducted  by teachers and students of  the facultyare  published  in domestic and  foreign journals in the form of abstracts  and articles.

Also, teachers  and  students  actively participate  in events  at  the international and  state level.
