Geology  faculty of  the Yagshygeldi Kakayev   International  oil   and   gas   university   was   founded   in   2012.

     The  departments of Geophysical  methods  of  prospecting  and   exploration of  mineral  deposits,  Geology and  geochemistry, Hydrogeology  and   engineering   geology,  Mining, Geological  mapping  and mine  surveying,  Descriptive  geometry  and   resistance  of materials  function at the Geology   faculty.   The   faculty   graduates   mining   engineers   with    higher  education   in   the   specialties  of "Geophysical    methods   of   prospecting  and exploration of mineral  deposits",  "Hydrogeology   and   engineering   geology",  " Oil   and gas  geology",  "Enrichment of   extracted  minerals",  "Geological   mapping   and   search for  mineral  deposits"  as well  as bachelors  in the  direction of  "Mining" and "Geology and  exploration  of  mineral   deposits. " After   graduation, they work  in  the  state  concerns Türkmengas, Türkmennebit  of  the oil  and  gas  complex  of Turkmenistan, the  state corporation  Türkmengeologiýa, research  institutes, as  well  as in   the    relevant  management  industry  organizations.

     At  the  Scientific research   institute of  natural  gas of  the state  concern Türkmengaz, there is a basic department of  the faculty,  where students  in production  consolidate the theoretical knowledge   gained  at   the   department, actively participate  in research and design work.

     In  2012, the Museum of  geology was  established  at  the faculty, the main purpose of  which   is  to use  accessible visual aids  to  educate  students  and   widen  the  geological  knowledge at  the modern level. More than   1000  samples  of  minerals, rocks,   paleontological   fossils   and   ores  are stored  here. The museum has  created conditions for studying the bowels of Turkmenistan  and obtaining new  information  about  the geological  structure of the region, as a  result of  examining  samples  of collected  stone   materials.

     The  classrooms of Geology faculty are provided with modern equipment. There are classes  for  diploma and  term projects, language  and  computer classes, 15  laboratories  designed  for  educational  and research    activities.

     At  Geology faculty, there  are classes  promoting the works of  the Hero Arkadag, the domestic and  foreign   policy of  our Esteemed  President, where  special  ttention is paid to the  study of  world  experience of  future  specialists, news  about developments,  scientific  and  methodological  information  and  innovations  in  important  areas of  scientific  and practical  research   work.

     The  results of research  conducted by teachers and students of  the   faculty  are  published in domestic and foreign journals in the  form  of  abstracts  and articles.

     Also, teachers  and students actively participate in events at  the international  and  state  level.
