The opening ceremony of a new laboratory of refrigeration and climate systems was held at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University.

28 March 2023

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Oil and Gas University, the media and others.

The opening of new laboratory at the Innovative Research and Training Center of the University was preceded by speeches, by the participants of the event. They included numerous mutual congratulations and words of gratitude from the Turkmen and foreign colleagues, whose fruitful joint work resulted in the opening of the ultramodern laboratory. The speeches emphasized the importance and challenges of its creation in the context of modernization of the national education system, and described the equipment and plans of activities.

The Laboratory of Refrigeration and Climatic Systems is intended to contribute to the further successful development of science and education. Among its goals is the training of specialists in the field of refrigeration and compressor engineering - students of the Faculty of Energy and Engineering of University. Here specialists working with refrigeration and air conditioning systems will raise their professional level, and a program for their retraining and certification will be created. Training of young specialists and study of modern alternatives aimed at the safe use of natural refrigerants in various industries and protection of the ozone layer are the primary objectives of this project, which is important at the international level.

Turkmenistan strives to achieve these objectives as a state party to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, and consistently fulfills its obligations under international treaties.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan together with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is successfully implementing the project "Organizational Action Plan to phase-out hydrochlorofluorocarbons", under which at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University appeared a new laboratory.

The lab will provide training in eight areas. These include: Service and maintenance of refrigeration equipment operating on natural refrigerants; Installation and service of high efficiency VRF and VRV air conditioning systems; Installation of residential, semi-industrial and industrial air conditioning and ventilation systems; Refrigerant control and collection, recovery and destruction systems; Basic modern ventilation and air conditioning system design and other important areas of specialist training.

The highly modern laboratory is equipped with advanced training programs and practical tools, and it has the necessary facilities to conduct training at a high level. The laboratory is equipped with the latest experimental equipment, the use of which is aimed at learning the fundamentals of refrigeration systems, analyzing their performance characteristics, assembling components, disassembling and commissioning systems, performing maintenance or repair work, defects, fault detection, and welding. Equipment, training simulators are also designed for studying modern types and characteristics of refrigerants, determining their condition, conducting various tests.

It should be noted that the authors and developers of training interactive stands, specialized programs and simulators are Russian engineers. In the field of science and education the International Oil and Gas University is successfully and mutually beneficially cooperating with leading universities, scientific centers of Russia, Belarus, Romania, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, UAE, Germany, Austria, Italy and many other countries. It is symbolic that opening of the new laboratory of refrigeration and climatic systems at Turkmenistan's oil and gas University was held this year under the slogan "Happy Youth with Arkadag Serdar". Providing the younger generation with modern education meeting the world standards, training highly educated, capable and talented specialists with developed world outlook is one of the priorities of state policy.
