SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE "ENERGY PROSPECTS, NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF HYDROCARBON FIELDS"

   The day before the start of the conference on June 14, 2023, the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakaev hosted two events as part of the scientific and practical conference "Energy prospects, new technologies and environmental aspects of hydrocarbon field development", which is scheduled for June 15, 2023 .

   The theme of the first meeting is "Affordable and clean energy: a youth perspective". As part of the event, representatives of the UN, the younger generation and the scientific community of the country discussed the seventh Sustainable Development Goal on providing the population with affordable and clean energy.

   The second meeting was devoted to the prospects and opportunities of the oil and gas industry specialists. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, university professors and employees of research institutes of Turkmenistan.

   On June 15, 2023, a scientific and practical conference "Energy prospects, new technologies and environmental aspects of hydrocarbon field development" was held at the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International of Oil and Gas University.

   The conference was organized by the Turkmen Forum together with the national energy companies of Turkmenistan. The focus of the conference will be on reducing emissions to the environment in the development of hydrocarbons and energy cooperation.

   The event brought together over 800 delegates from 20 countries. They will discuss the application of new technologies in the energy sector, the reduction of methane and CO2 emissions from hydrocarbon production, as well as opportunities for additional environmental financing and clean energy initiatives.

   Among the forum participants are representatives of the UN, the OSCE, the International Methane Observatory, the Asian Development Bank, as well as companies such as Climate Compass, LLC, Tetra Tech Inc, GHGSat Inc, Carbon Limits AS, Dragon Oil, LLC MIP NES Profexpert ”, Chevron, Baker Hughes, PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd, Yug-Neftegaz Private Limited, etc.

   The conference was attended by high-ranking officials of the government of Turkmenistan, heads of national and international oil and gas companies, representatives of international organizations and research centers, the international and Turkmen academic community, as well as students of universities in Turkmenistan. The conference consisted of a plenary session and 3 sections.

   The general meeting was chaired by the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko on the topic “Energy prospects, new technologies and environmental aspects of the development of hydrocarbon deposits”. The first session of the scientific-practical conference was called "New Technologies and Energy Transition: A Future Perspective", the second - "Emission Reduction and Monetization in the Extraction of Hydrocarbon Resources", and the third - "New Green Financing Opportunities and Initiatives in Promoting Clean Energy Projects".

   Speakers at the meeting noted the importance of energy cooperation between Turkmenistan and the countries of the world. In the speeches, special attention was paid to the position of Turkmenistan rich in natural resources in the world energy market. Also, the conference participants discussed the possibilities of using advanced technologies and know-how in the field of optimizing hydrocarbon production.
